Portfolio Management for Crypto Market using Google Sheet

Cryptocurrencies are not unknown anymore and are being discussed by Institutions and Media.  People have moved ahead of Bitcoin and have started talking about Altcoins. While Etherium, Bitcoin Cash, and Ripple are ahead in Market Cap, there are over 300+ coins been listed by several exchanges globally. Globally different teams are launching new icons through ICOs in a hope to attract early adopters and get listed on popular exchanges.

Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies are not going anywhere, and the majority of the population has accepted this fact. In this scenario, if you are an investor, you will take every opportunity to make a profit. Most fundamental rule of any investment is to diversify. Never put all your eggs in one basket and learn how to calculate your risk. Diversification helps in decreasing overall risk.

There are several exchanges which have listed these currency pairs, and you can start trading anytime. The market is open 24 hours. Most of the exchange are new, and they are still developing their interface to give maximum benefits to traders, but what indeed is missing in each of them is a proper portfolio management. So here I made an attempt using simple tools to build a basic Portfolio Manager for Crypto Currencies

I chose 15 top Coins and listed them over to generate some meaningful data for traders like you. The spreadsheet pulls live data from Coinmarketcap.com . All you need to put the number of coins you are holding ( column C)  and buy price ( Column J)  and everything will be computed automatically.

Profit and Loss and Changes are Color-coded, so you will easily identify the coins which are making losses ( red ) and coins making a profit( green) for you.

Steps to use it

  1. Go to Google Sheet Link, Click on File an Make a Copy to your drive
  2. Go to Add-On and add CRYPTOFINANCE (Created by  – Julien Buty)
  3. Wait for Google Sheet to fetch data

Caution: The API may take some time to fetch and you may see errors (#NAME?, ..Loading), have patience and refresh the page after sometime. Plese, note that you don’t have to refresh the page repeatedly as it may cause a denial of service. The data refresh periodically.

Please do leave your comment if you like the Portfolio Manager. If you have some suggestions or wish to contribute, create a new sheet and share with me over email amit@thinkinvestment.in

Happy Investing!

Will you be adding more coins going forward? Like XVG, Wabi, TRX, etc?

Thanks Jaspreet, you can add it yourself by replacing the coin symbol in formula.

I have a question that if I want to remove a coin and add another one, then how do I do that?

You have to just replace the symbol of the coin under Current Rate ( look at the formula )
